Oh the Nazis were not only sure Russia would collapse until September their logistics weren’t sufficiant for more time anyway. Winter was inevitable but Hitler already said out loud that he thinks they lost in late Autumn of 1941. Thats why only Army Group South could make a larger effort in 1942 because they could only produce as much food and war material for one army group until late spring 1942. So yeah Winter was inevitable but the highest Nazis knew they’d either won or lost by then anyway. Rest was just buying time until Hitler offed himself in 1945.
