The US has returned more than 1,000 Achaemenid tablets to Iran, the sixth such handover of its kind. Dating to the time of Darius the Great (522-486 BCE), a large portion of the ancient tablets were returned in three batches between 1948 and 2004, with over 3,500 were repatriated in 2023. [700×532]

This comes on top of Egypt reclaiming the stolen statue of King Ramses II in April of this year, Greece recovering hundreds of looted artefacts in May 2023, and Iran returning the statue/relief of Sassanid soldier in June 2023. Its nice to see nations with rich history and culture are returning their historical artifacts home.

Good! I really hope they find a safe home and don’t become collateral damage for any regional conflicts.
