Let’s be clear: because we know about the origin of the racist lie Trump and Vance are telling, for anyone trying to use any aspect of Haitian culture to defend the racist lie, the most they can possibly say is “I am trying to make their racist lies true.” There could be a line in the Haitian constitution that says “we eat dogs and cats” and Trump and Vance would still have told a racist lie, and the people defending them would still be defending racism, there is no opportunity for Devil’s advocate here.

Haiti has been punished by the West for over 200 years now. Enough is enough. I’ve been to Haiti. These people know nothing but government dysfunction yet they are feverishly proud of their homeland. Honestly, more than the US, France holds a lot of the blame. Haiti is still in debt to France for the revolution and subsequent independence.
