We’re teaching our kids to do homework and chores first, and then there’s no conflict when we get home. Everything done? Awesome, game on.
We’re also careful to give them 10 minute warnings before time to be off. We’ll let them get to save points, finish rounds within reason, whatever to respect their immersion in the games. That way they trust us not to stomp on their feelings, and they’re much more willing to listen to us when we have something to say.
