You could try building up the suspense a bit more and make it seem like the training’s going well before the surprise twist.

I dunno why, but I was expecting the ending to have Godzilla kick him in the shin then Kong doing the whole Peter Griffin thing going “*Hssss*……**ahhh**…!”
