This is my dad aged 22 in his first posting as a police officer in the Kent County Constabulary (U.K.). He is standing at the gates of Chartwell which was Winston Churchill’s home for many years. Guarding the great man inside (one officer on duty at a time only) with just a whistle and a truncheon should there be any trouble!
