Being a girl in imperial china was not fun

    1. Imperial china was very misogynist. The ideal family structure was the family patriarch his wife and any concubines he might have his sons and their wives and kids. As you can see daughters had no place in this ideal family structure, they were married off as soon as possible. As a result boys where preferred, most couples wanted to have at least two boys. This meant that many newborn girls were left to die after being born. Or if they were allowed to live during times of hardship like wars or famines and if the family did not have enough food for both there male and female kids they would often neglect there female children depriving them of food so they starved to death.  Parents selling their daughters  into sexual slavery was also common.

    2. As to the grammar, my husband has dysgraphia, a reading disorder which means he literally can’t tell the difference between there and their. Consider that before you slam someone.
