    1. I use this coffee pod thing, and the machine only uses water. I assume the regular alternative is milk, but I don’t think I’ve had more than five hot chocolates using milk

.how else am I supposed to make it? shove milk in the kettle? or even the microwave??

I find it interesting that the original post is pretty solidly upvoted, but OP is downvoted in every single comment.

      Just an observation.

And here I thought it was normal to use water to make hot chocolate. I normally make it with milk at home but if I get it elsewhere, they’d make it with water and it’s not as good.

    5. Because that’s how it is supposed to be drank. Hot chocolate as a drink started with the Maya, that used the cacao beans to make a spicy drink for special occasions and for the elites pretty much. But guess what, there were no cows back then before the Spaniards arrived so the original way to drink hot chocolate was and pretty much still is with water. You will find that pretty much everywhere in Mexico people still drink hot chocolate with water, no milk.
The idea of using milk to prepare chocolate to drink was way, way later like in the late 1700’s. So chocolate had been drank with water most of history actually, milk chocolate is relatively a new thing.

    6. Cuz I’m lactose intolerant even though I know the chocolate is milk chocolate so I just don’t care and just go fuck it and go halfway I’m going to be shitting I’m going to at least have it watery easier to pass….

But like… doesn’t the powdered cocoa contain powdered milk?… have I been taking a lactaid for no reason?
