Duck races run like this are not interesting. A better way is to randomize the finish place order (like 3,5,1,4,2 instead of 1,2,3,4,5) so that the first duck across might not be the winner, but actually might be the loser or somewhere in the middle. This keeps people watching throughout the race, even up the the end, because they might be rooting for their duck to finish last.

Edit: To clarify, it depends on league format. In 12 team, half PPR, 1st or 2nd position is preferred. In 10 team PPR the 3rd slot is optimal.
