I’m all for gentle parenting but I will not be made to believe my toddler is human.
Do humans absolutely lose their shit because you gave them their cheese upside down?

sometimes adults, myself included, *are* best helped by a loud, firm wake up call though. our brains can do very silly things to us, and to children too.
there’s a middle ground between gentle parenting and abusive parenting, and that’s where the sweet spot is. gentle yet firm, dominant yet caring.

Nah bro there aint no way someone called their kids ‘not human’ just because they acted like kids☠️

Do not confuse it with lazy parenting aka not doing anything besides feeding and clothing the kid.

Be nice to your kids they choose your retirement home.

But also firm when needed. Being too gentle isn’t good either.

Mnyeah, except soooo many parents mistake gentle parenting for permissive parenting and end up fucking their children up even more. Kids need boundaries and they need to be taught that their actions have consequences.

The problem is far too many parents claiming to do “gentle parenting” have no idea how gentle parenting works… or how parenting works, in general.

Yes.
Children are humans too. And when interacting with them or parenting them or whatever, we have to give them respect like we would do with others.
They deserve to be treated fair and with dignity.
And yes parents need to give boundaries and enforce them. But just saying “Because I say so” when asked, does not help at all. Providing a reason helps children understand rules and adhere to them. And in the long term they learn that rules have reasons and are not made to bully people (Yes I know there are dumb rules, but let’s keep it simple).
Furthermore, children learn by asking questions and by giving them answers that allow them to understand something, we help them learn and grow.
Thus, it is best to treat kids with respect and humanity. Because little humans deserve it and need it as much as everybody else.
And I am not talking about a toddler. But about kids that learned to speak and so on. Of course there is a place for being firm and steadfast when parenting. But that’s not the point of my post. The point is that children deserve to be treated honestly and respectfully. They deserve explanations and that we try to see things from their perspective and then interact with them.

Problem with new age parents is that they forget humans are still animals. Same as dogs, you need to yell for them to know when they’ve crossed the line.
Gentle parents are just parents who refuse to raise their kid properly. Bet they expect an ipad or school teachers to do all that for them.

So any parenting that isn’t screaming is now considered “gentle parenting”?

totally agree. Kids need guidance, not harshness. Empathy fosters understanding and growth. it’s all about positive reinforcement and communication.

Yes, I, as an adult, do learn by getting screamed at. But I agree with her

Gentle parenting is the reason why the world has gone to shit. Punish your children when they misbehave

Abrahamic societies and a lot of societies in general have normalised abuse towards children so much that they call normal healthy behavior around kids “gentle parenting.”
Not screaming and beating / harming your kids is not even “gentle parenting.” It just means you might be legally allowed around children.
Some people, on the other hand – should legally not be allowed around children.

Also, don’t hit your kids. I can’t believe it’s 2024, and we are still having this conversation.
It’s aggravated assault on a CHILD. people who do this should be publicly humiliated and charged.
