    1. Those are worker honey bees in their pupal stage! Usually they should be sealed in under a brown “cap” at this stage. These have been opened up either by the adult workers since they found disease, or by the beekeeper to take this pic. Unfortunately these will all die, but it’s a very cool pic!

      Source, I have a PhD in honey bee ecology and have been beekeeping for 8 years!

      They’ve got that “cute but mysterious” vibe. Love seeing these early stages of bee life.
