Where do you get your information from? Surely not from international history …

Ardern was unanimously elected as deputy leader of the Labour Party on 1 March 2017, after the resignation of Annette King. Exactly five months later, with an election due, Labour’s leader Andrew Little resigned after a historically low opinion polling result for the party, with Ardern elected unopposed as leader in his place. Labour’s support increased rapidly after Ardern became leader, and she led her party to gain 14 seats at the 2017 general election on 23 September, winning 46 seats to the National Party’s 56. After negotiations, New Zealand First chose to enter a minority coalition government with Labour, supported by the Green Party, with Ardern as prime minister. She was sworn in by the governor-general on 26 October 2017. She became the world’s youngest female head of government at age 37.

Imma have to stop you at “many times in the past”

Near as I can tell, people only offer up one example, that being LBJ in 1968. And while that did not go the Dems’ way, it’s also a sample size of ONE.

Are there other examples in modern US history that are instructive? Because I’m sorry, even setting aside some of the obvious differences in the current scenario, I have a real hard time taking a single example as a lock that the same thing is guaranteed in all other cases.

    3. At this point the DNC would nominate Harris anyways so there really isn’t much of a difference

They do need to go all in with Harris being a very capable VP over the next few months especially in comparison to with whatever toad Trump picked out

    4. I just remember 2016 and 2020 and how many people didn’t like the outcome of Primaries where tens of millions of people voted for Hillary in 2016 and then Biden in 2020.

Then tried blaming the DNC for just anointing whoever the DNC wanted.

And people whining that Biden was too old, but all of the top 4 candidates in 2020s Primary were born in the 1940s and two of them, Bloomberg and Sanders are older than Biden.

People thinking the DNC just picking two names out of a hat will somehow unite Progressives, Undecideds, and Democrats are more out of touch than Biden and Trump combined.

Left leaning Dems wanted Biden to step aside for a better candidate over a year ago. The DNC and moderates fought hard against it and now we’re here. Hope moderates are happy.

    6. now check how many incumbents with approvals below 40% have won in the past 50 yrs. I’ll wait

    7. There’s a first time for everything, then there’s understanding reality, how voters work, the power of a known vs an unknown, etc. if a candidate isn’t already suggested by tons of voters it’s probably not going to work out.

    8. I mean this race is whoever drops out first wins soooooooo……. Generic Dem beats Trump by 10+ and vise versa.
