I split my time between two of those blue areas and the rate of gun violence is pretty low in both, and rate of gun ownership is quite high (rural blue areas). If you take out five cities from the entire United States
Memphis, TN
Detroit, MI
Baltimore, MD
Cleveland, OH
Kansas City, MO
The United States goes from 9 th or 10th most gun deaths in the world somewhere around 163rd that was as of 2019 I think.
And it’s not because the cities are “more populated” it’s because they have ridiculously restrictive gun laws… So the only people in the city that are willing to risk carrying a firearm are people that are criminals and don’t give a shit if they go to jail again or not.
But to give some clarity in 2019, there were 39.6 violent (murders) gun deaths per 1,000,000 in the United States after taking out accidental shootings, and suicides!
That’s about 13 1/2 thousand people..
out of 330 million .
