      Bryan said he lost in 1896 because he had borne the sins of Grover Cleveland, meaning he thought he lost because they were in the same party and Cleveland didn’t do anything about the depression.

      Pitchfork Ben actually got his nickname for saying that he’d “prod” that “bag of beef” (Cleveland) with a pitchfork. In the 1896 DNC, he openly pushed for a resolution denouncing Cleveland as an undemocratic tyrant, if you know anything about Tillman, you’d know he’s projecting.

      Palmer, who was supported by Cleveland in 1896, essentially ran on Cleveland’s platform. He got less than 1%.
