I also have an ex boyfriend who cheated on me… twice. He was the love of my life and I even thought about building a life with him. A decade after our tragic break up, he still messages me regularly asking for forgiveness. How he regrets the things he did to me – beating me, cheating on me, and all other traumatic things he did. He still messages to express his remorse even when he is now married with 5 kids. I guess, for SOME cheaters, the regret and/or remorse doesn’t go away.
I have definitely forgiven him, but I still think I have lingering trauma over what he did. I’m still seeing a therapist about it, but now it makes perfect sense why I’m no longer with him. I have a better life without him.
