Look, just because you’re ideologically opposed to each other in almost every respect doesn’t mean you can’t still be friends. This is the magic of being bros.

    2. Look Gorby you are Bad Guy, but this does not mean you are bad … guy. – Reagan probably

    3. Gorbachev only became secretary general of the USSR during Reagan’s second term. Reagan had nothing to prove, plus he pretty much scared himself shitless once he truly understood what nuclear war would entail. It’s not too surprising they hung out together.

Could you imagine Reagan hanging out with Brezhnev? Lol. They’d literally have nothing to talk about!

    4. Brain dead sycophant republican presidents really love being way too friendly with Russian authoritarians

    5. They were friendly, sure. Reagan even attributed Gorby to being the reason why the USSR ceased to be the evil empire.

But for actual friendship, look no further than George Sultz, Reagan’s sec of state and Eduard Shevardnadze, Gorby’s foreign minister, who bonded over an official trip and became fishing buddies, continuing to visit after they left their respective offices. Shevardnadze eventually became president of the newly independent Georgia, and Sultz visited his friend while he was in office, and after leaving.

I mean Reagan was also in charge of an evil empire, so are we sure he didn’t think it was a compliment?
