I think that might indicate you are deficient in some vitamins and minerals or another medical issue. You should get it checked out!

    2. Those are called Beau’s lines. If they are on all of your nails, they can be caused by chemotherapy, or could potentially be a symptom of an underlying health condition or zinc deficiency. If you aren’t on chemo, you might want to have your doctor take a look.

    3. My nails used to get like this when I was in my drinking heavily phase. Daily handle of vodka, at least … I was pretty sure it was because I was screwing up my body chemistry with the horrible habit, so never thought much beyond it.

Dry for years now; haven’t seen it since.

I know that vitamin deficiencies can cause nails to look like this. You should let your Dr know

    5. This just made me realize my nail is no longer like this.

My left pinky nail was like this for years, and this post made me just check and it’s perfectly normal now. I don’t know when it went back to normal tbh.

I have not made any lifestyle changes I can think of

I have Psoriasis and my nails do this. It’s called pitting and its just little spots where the keratin production was slightly reduced. Assuming you also have Psoriasis, it’s totally harmless, but still tell your doc whenever you see them next.

    7. This is from psoriasis or something in that same family. I have psoriatic arthritis. Don’t get the skin symptoms, but without medication I get the same nail pitting.

I think you’re just pushing the skin at the base of your nail a little to far behind when you’re taking care of them. Try to be more gentle and leave it more attached to the nail. The new nail that grown from that point on will be straight again.

nail pitting, when I get them its a sign that I’m about to get wrecked by a psoriatic arthritis flair up.

it could also be an indicator for a dozen or so other health issues. Severity ranges but most are minor.

“Tell Ea-nasir: Nanni sends the following message: When you came, you said to me as follows : “I will give Gimil-Sin (when he comes) fine quality copper ingots.” You left then but you did not do what you promised me. You put ingots which were not good before my messenger (Sit-Sin) and said: “If you want to take them, take them; if you do not want to take them, go away!” What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt? I have sent as messengers gentlemen like ourselves to collect the bag with my money (deposited with you) but you have treated me with contempt by sending them back to me empty-handed several times, and that through enemy territory. Is there anyone among the merchants who trade with Telmun who has treated me in this way? You alone treat my messenger with contempt! On account of that one (trifling) mina of silver which I owe(?) you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have given to the palace on your behalf 1,080 pounds of copper, and Å umi-abum has likewise given 1,080 pounds of copper, apart from what we both have had written on a sealed tablet to be kept in the temple of Shamash. How have you treated me for that copper? You have withheld my money bag from me in enemy territory; it is now up to you to restore (my money) to me in full. Take cognizance that (from now on) I will not accept here any copper from you that is not of fine quality. I shall (from now on) select and take the ingots individually in my own yard, and I shall exercise against you my right of rejection because you have treated me with contempt.”

I had a nervous tick for years where I would rub the top of my thumbs where the skin covered the nail. Turns out the repeated pressure was damaging the underlying structure causing the nail to grow the same ridges. I tried all kinds of cures, doctors kept thinking it was fungus, but I eventually caught on to my habit and a few months after I stopped the rubbing, the nail started to grow in properly. I’m not sure if you have the same thing, but my nails started looking like yours and then got progressively worse. I’m not a doctor, but to be honest no doctor had any idea what to do with my nails, my problem turned out to be psychology related 🙂 maybe yours is too, good luck.

    12. I’m a dude too, but bro – those nails and cuticles are nasty! Git you a razor blade to shave that nasty cuticle – is this a thumb or a toe?
