I always get such a kick out of seeing Saturns still on the road in 2024

    1. I find this hilarous.

Remember those first commercials when they first came out that had a woman hollering out to a car hauler truck driver “What kind of car is that?” and he yells back “It’s a Saturn!”

      We’ve come full circle.

I remember when Saturn was launched. They had some really innovative ideas for the time. No haggle pricing, dentless doors….like they would go up to a brand new car and kick the doors….sometimes kinda hard too and were like “you try it”. “No thanks…I’m not buying it if I screw it up”

Friend of mine drove like 2 or 3 of them throughout the years. he loved them and was really bummed when they shut down.

I have never seen a Saturn in poor condition after all these years. They are either pristine or very well kept.

They were way ahead of their time, but the insiders at GM had it in for them from day one, since Saturns whole process was to “redo” car manufacuring, sales and service. Essentially experimenting to prove there was a better way. In the end GM itself killed them by insisting that Saturn evolve to become just another part of GM. But they WERE great cars!!!

I bought a Saturn SL2 brand new in 1993. It was the best car I’ve ever had. It got stolen and stripped, and I cried.

Hahaha! I have a 2001 4dr, same color but we got 10 more horsepower with the spoiler, with 170k on it that’s still the wife’s daily driver. She loves it. Its a unicorn around here. It’s our 3rd saturn and when it eventually reaches critical mass and explodes, and it will, it goes straight to the crusher.

    7. My first car was a Saturn as well. 1991 Saturn SC. Loved that car. Never had any issues with it and it looked pretty good.

    8. I saw one the other day with a sticker that said “My other ride is Uranus”

    9. I owned a ’99 SL1, wonderful car, unfortunately I live in Wichita KS so it got tornadoed. Minor damage, I thought. I was going to keep it until I turned on the heater/fan and a whole bunch of the neighborhood’s pink fiberglass insulation came out of the vents. Not gonna risk it getting into anybody’s lungs.

That was the first car I ever drove, a red one just like that. I was 13, it was my friend’s mom’s car. I just drove it down the street and back from their house with my friend and her older sister. They got in a lot of trouble for letting me get behind the wheel, lol. I don’t think I went over 5mph.

    11. My first car was my mom’s 1991 SL1, which she bought new. It was the second one sold in Canada, she had a certificate stating so and a bunch of other neat documents. I think she still has all the dealer paperwork.
